In addition to honoring our big anniversary by designing a symbolic print and re-releasing seven of our most classic dresses, we also want to create moments of reflection for our customers. How far have our longtime champions—and their closets—come over the past 10 years?

“My style has, mercifully, evolved over the past decade, much in line with my confidence and experience as a leader. I used to use fashion as a way of blending in; then, as a newer lifestyle blogger, I ended up succumbing to trends like bubble necklaces, arm parties (stacks of bejeweled bracelets), bright denim, and hats that did not flatter my face. These days, I’ve come to rely on different uniforms depending on the type of day I have planned: Power Casual separates when I’m working from home, sharply tailored sheath dresses and suits when I have a big meeting or speech, and flowing caftans and linen pieces all summer long. I love a monochromatic look (especially in deep green, indigo, scarlet, or navy) to look polished with minimal effort, and none of my looks are complete without a piece of snake jewelry, which honors my middle name and makes me feel powerful. Fashion is armor for me—helping me get into the specific mindset and flow that I need to tackle the day.
I have had so many milestones while wearing M.M. in particular: pitching investors while pregnant, meeting (twice!) with Vice President Harris, whom I wrote a book about, and most memorably, for my very first speaking event at one of M.M.’s pop-ups back in the day.
“Unless I’m exercising or swimming, I’ve pretty much only worn M.M.LaFleur since I discovered the brand in 2016.”

“In a few words: Unless I’m exercising or swimming, I’ve pretty much only worn M.M.LaFleur since I discovered the brand in 2016.
For work, I used to wear mostly black suits and neutral-colored tops, as well as some very unflattering dresses and stiff skirts—not comfortable at all. For leisure time, I used to wear mostly jeans and colorful T-shirts. You can see why I hated shopping.
Then in 2016, I found out about M.M. and realized that clothes could be elegant, effortless, comfortable, fun, and flexible—easy to mix and match for both work and fun. I now love dresses and skirts and have so many comfortable pants and blazers. I use dressing to express myself and to be creative, and I’ve also realized that I love color. Looking at my pictures from before and after M.M., I can see that my style has become confident and feminine, empowering and playful.
Naturally, since I practically live in M.M., that means I’ve worn it for pretty much all of my major milestones throughout the past 10 years: celebrating my 25-year wedding anniversary, getting promoted to Clinical Professor, receiving teaching awards, presenting at national conferences, chairing committees, surviving a pandemic caring for patients, and receiving my COVID vaccine. But above all else are the memories I have with my family while wearing M.M.—cooking, entertaining, and traveling.”

“Comfort plays a huge role in how I dress these days. I also love bright colors and bold patterns, as well as classic cuts with a modern twist. M.M. lets me have all of this at once. When wearing M.M., I can express all aspects of my style while running around the city, sitting in meetings, and traveling near and far.
Last May, I was invited to meet First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, which was obviously an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience. I wore a gorgeous electric blue suit from M.M., and I will never forget how confident I felt while shaking the hand of the First Lady.”
“Turned out that the informational coffee was actually an interview for a yet-to-be-posted role! Thank goodness I wore M.M., as it looked polished even though I was secretly prioritizing comfort. I got the job and will start next week.”

“I discovered M.M. when I turned 40. I made my first purchase at 41, when I decided to revamp my work wardrobe after a couple of years of ‘making it work’ with clothing that wasn’t ideal for my postpartum body. I had a preschooler, a 90-minute commute, and little bandwidth to shop or even think about building a new wardrobe.
I finally decided to purchase what was essentially a capsule wardrobe, which instantly elevated my style at the office and outside of work. It was an investment in me and a great lesson in the benefits of buying timeless, high-quality, well-fitting clothing. My stylist introduced me to pieces I had never even considered), and within four years, 90% of my work wardrobe was M.M. I felt super polished in my work and non-work worlds and started to receive flattering comments about my outfits. It was honestly a big confidence booster, especially when I switched industries and moved to a company where I knew no one (terrifying).
Then, when the pandemic started, I did what most working professionals did for those video conference calls: Wear a nice top with a comfy, casual bottom. The pieces I purchased during the pandemic remain my go-to’s today as my role is still 100% remote. For me, this Power Casual dress code is here to stay, but I know that’s not the case for everyone. I’m thankful that M.M. keeps this in mind and provides a few pieces that run the gamut in terms of formality. It’s what I love most about M.M.: there’s something for everyone, regardless of size, shape, coloring, and style preference.
I’ve made countless memories while wearing M.M., but one stands out. My company was recently acquired by a Fortune 5 with 400K employees. I wore head-to-toe M.M. for a virtual coffee to learn more about how my new department’s Product Management team would operate and start connecting. Turned out that the informational coffee was actually an interview for a yet-to-be-posted role! Thank goodness I wore M.M., as it looked polished even though I was secretly prioritizing comfort. I got the job and will start next week!”

“While my style hasn’t changed all that much over the past decade—I prefer super-classic silhouettes and have mostly maintained the same dress code—I’ve changed a whole lot, and my M.M. has been there for me through the good and the bad.
In 2020, during the height of the pandemic, I made the painful decision to get a divorce. At the time, I wondered if I could handle a major life transition and also support my kids through such a difficult time. I was excited for the three of us to start a new life and also terrified of what would come. I’ve always loved sending holiday cards and wondered whether it would be appropriate to send them that year, but I decided that the cards would be my declaration of independence and happiness after a dark time. I booked a session with my favorite photographer for ‘new’ family photos and chose to wear my Etsuko dress, because it makes me feel confident, happy, and brave. Whenever I look at these photos now, they remind me that if I can get through that time and still feel good about myself, then the kids and I are going to be just fine.”
“That’s the magic of M.M.: I’m able to forget about what I’m wearing—in the best way possible—allowing me to focus on the task at hand.”
Dawn Gallegos
“I’ve worked in Human Resources for over 20 years and have been fortunate to telework full-time for the past 15. Ten years ago, my work attire consisted of athleisure items, and I barely dedicated one minute to thinking about what I should wear for my day. However, as I experienced an uptick in video meetings (long before the pandemic), it suddenly became important for me to be presentable and professional. That’s where M.M. came to the rescue!
Now, my clothing priorities are style, comfort, and an appropriate level of formality. I want to look professional on camera but still look normal walking the dogs on my lunch break or attending an after-school activity. M.M.’s Power Casual philosophy fits my lifestyle and needs. It has truly made dressing for work and the weekend something I look forward to each and every day.
An unexpected benefit of dressing up for remote work is that, when I’m thoughtful about how I want to present myself on any given day, I also become more intentional and motivated about my work itself. In short, I find myself more productive in my M.M. Most recently, I wore the Farnoosh dress in houndstooth for an important legal meeting. It was stretchy, comfortable, and provided coverage while looking stylish. That’s the magic of M.M.: I’m able to forget about what I’m wearing—in the best way possible—allowing me to focus on the task at hand.”
“In my 20’s, I remember feeling that I needed to wear what was popular. Now, I’m less concerned with what is popular and more focused on putting together combinations of high-quality pieces that make me feel great.”
Meghan Donovan
“In the last decade, I’ve really honed a style that feels very reflective of my personal taste vs. trying to chase trends. In my 20’s, I remember feeling that I needed to wear what was popular. Now, I’m less concerned with what is popular and more focused on putting together combinations of high-quality pieces that make me feel great. For me, that looks like a closet full of staples that are timeless, versatile, tailored, and feminine—many of which are M.M.
I especially love my M.M. pieces due to their travel-friendliness, since I run a travel-centric business, Paris, Perfected. I’m often on the go and need, so I really rely on separates that are wrinkle-resistant and easy to care for. I’m so grateful to have found that in M.M.”
Carly Zakin & Danielle Weisberg
Carly: “Danielle and I met years ago while working in broadcast television. Back then, anytime we did a photo shoot or anything, we would dress like highlighters. We would go for bright colors. The brighter and tighter, the better. As producers who were looking at broadcasting, we thought, ‘This is the easiest way to look good on camera.’ But I didn’t feel like myself.
Today, I prioritize comfort. The pants I’m pictured in here are truly the most comfortable pants I’ve ever put on. They feel like sweatpants, but they don’t look like sweatpants. I feel very ‘welcome to my boardroom’—I feel sexy and take-charge.
I pick out my outfit the night before. Always. I actually can’t go to sleep until I’m able to visualize what I’m going to put on in the morning. I do have a little bit of a system. It may or may not be called ‘The Order’ in my head. I organize my clothes by color, and I usually like to ground my outfit in one thing: either the sweater I’m wearing and what goes with it, or a pair of pants that haven’t been worn in a while. I ask myself, ‘What outfit can I build around these pants?’ And that becomes a fun little creative project for me.”
Danielle: “10 years ago, we couldn’t move. We couldn’t breathe. Flexible was not in the vocabulary. But now, I would describe my style as flexible. I look for flexibility in terms of fabric, but also metaphorically—clothes I can wear for different occasions, which M.M. has a lot of. When getting dressed in the morning, I go through my schedule. The outfit I choose really depends on my day.”
“Thanks to the power of clothing, I’ve become more resilient and am more comfortable leaning into the things that make me different.”
Cate Luzio
“Over the past decade, I’ve really learned to embrace my style and what makes me feel comfortable, powerful, and ready to get $hit done. I do my best work when I am dressed in clothes I feel confident in. After transitioning from banker to entrepreneur, I’ve evolved my style, but who I am remains the same and what I am wearing helps me convey that ‘I mean business, but I also love what I do.’ Thanks to the power of clothing, I’ve become more resilient and am more comfortable leaning into the things that make me different.
I met Sarah for the first time in 2019 wearing M.M., and that meeting kicked off a friendship (and mentorship) that has guided me through good times and bad. In addition to the clothing, this community has been pivotal as I build my business, Luminary. Recently, I had the opportunity to sit with 20 incredible women who were brought together by M.M., and I really opened up, thanks in part to how comfortable and confident I felt in my M.M.”

“I’m a Career & Technical Education Teacher who teaches robotics and rapid prototyping to high school students. Recently, my students designed, built, coded, and launched a satellite from the International Space Station. As you can imagine, that project got a lot of attention, which meant that I had to interact with the media and public in a way that teachers normally do not.
As you might expect, I was incredibly stressed about what I would wear. My normal wardrobe consists of denim, trainers, and a nice shirt. Now that my students and I are presenting at conferences, I’ve had to step it up. Thanks to M.M., this public school teacher can dress with professionalism and style. The classic lines of my Moreland blazers paired with an elevated knit has been my go-to outfit combo, and I look at all of my M.M. pieces as an investment that I can wear for years to come.”
