The Best Joggers, Hoodies, and Pullovers for Your Body Type
Everybody deserves well-made essentials that offer exceptional comfort, sophisticated style, and feel-good fit—because loungewear is for more than just lounging.
If you’d told me just two years ago that some of my favorite office outfits would eventually combine blazers with joggers, I would have both gasped in disbelief and burst with excitement. The past decade has seen the rise of athleisure, and the pandemic further accelerated the casualization of even the most traditional of workplaces. Whether or not this shift has affected your office dress code, one thing is for certain: loungewear isn’t just for lounging anymore. As our Chief Creative Officer, Miyako Nakamura, explains, “Our design team is always thinking, ‘Would you be able to wear this to go get a coffee without feeling like you’re outside in pajamas?’ That’s a differentiator for our loungewear—even if you’re wearing leggings, you’ll still feel (and look) like you’re wearing ‘real’ clothes.”
In 2021, we’re pushing workwear boundaries more than ever before and declaring that our elevated loungewear is for working from home, running errands, traveling or commuting, watching Netflix, layering under outerwear, and yes, even heading to the office. In other words, M.M. loungewear has a variety of purposes in your life, and it deserves a place in your wardrobe. Keep reading to see which of these luxuriously comfy and remarkably versatile pieces are best for your body, and enjoy the endless possibilities of loungewear.

For Straight Shapes
You likely have a straight body type if your bust and hips are similar in proportion and you don’t have an especially defined waist. Since creating shape isn’t exactly the #1 goal of loungewear, you can get away with any of our lounge tops. That said, sticking with a simple, lightweight sweatshirt like the Ellie pullover is a great option to avoid overwhelming your frame. To create some dimension in your silhouette, choose the Joni joggers or Keely joggers, which taper at the ankle. Happy hour plans? Swap out the joggers for some kick-crop jeans and hoop earrings to achieve a casual, on-the-town vibe.
For Hourglass Shapes
You likely have an hourglass body type if your shoulders align with your hips and you have a defined waistline. Opt for the Shae hoodie, which is a slightly oversized version of a classic zip-up. The zipped front will allow you to change the fit to your liking, and the not-too-fitted bottom means there’s wiggle-room for your bust or hips. For pants, we recommend the Joni joggers, since the elastic waistband is adjustable, and the banded ankle provides a sleek taper. Looking for pants you can dress up more easily? Try the Wesley loungers, which are more trouser-like, but just as comfy.
For Oval Shapes
You likely have an oval body type if you have a fuller midsection, and there’s less distinction between your bust, waist, and hips. The Toni top’s wide ribbed band at the bottom will visually break up your midsection and define your waist. Pair the Toni with the matching Joni joggers for a complete streamlined look. If you’re looking for arm coverage, go with the Kristin pullover, which has a laid-back cut, elongating seams, and a broad boat neck to balance out your silhouette. Rushing from the airport to dinner? Bring the Williamina earrings in your bag, and switch out the Joni joggers for the Rogala culotte if you need a more elevated look but still want to enjoy the comfort of a knit pant.
For Pear Shapes
You likely have a pear body type if your hips are proportionally larger than your top half. Either the Sharon top or Harris pullover are a good option, thanks to each style’s subtle, hip-friendly A-line fit. Complement your pullover with the Colby joggers, which feature an elastic waistband and easy, slightly tapered leg. Craving a more fashion-forward pant silhouette? Ditch the Colbys for the on-trend Milo jeans, which have a wonderful wide-leg cut that will complement your shape.
For Heart Shapes
You likely have a heart body type if your bust is proportionally larger than your hips. You can ensure you have enough room through your bust by choosing a layer with a front zip like the Shae hoodie or Judith hoodie. Couple your zip-up with the wider-legged Georgina lounger to keep your bottom half in proportion with your top half. Heading into the office? Since the Georginas have a tailored look, just throw on a boyfriend blazer like the O’Hara, which looks sharp on its own, but slips easily over your hoodie. Take your office-friendly outfit to the next level with a piece of elegant jewelry, like the single bezel necklace.
