There’s something about this time of year that gets me in the mood to embark on a weekend getaway. It doesn’t need to be anything too elaborate—I’m talking about an easy, Friday-evening-through-Sunday-afternoon micro-vacation that doesn’t even require you to turn on your out-of-office message. The beauty of this kind of trip is that you can pull it off without too much effort or planning, because when you’re only gone for a weekend, you only need a few things: comfy clothes, a fluffy hotel bed, and a resolute commitment to doing exactly what you feel like doing at all times.
Here are the three outfits you should pack for your next weekend trip, modeled by M.M. employees Maria, Tamar, and Casey.
Friday Outfit
If you’re not taking Friday off, you’ll need pieces that can take you straight from work to the train/plane/car that will whisk you away to your weekend. And I can think of no outfit more apt than the Delaney joggers and Moreland jacket in our ultra-lightweight, made-to-be-packed OrigamiTech fabric. (This fabric was originally developed for athletic wear, but we decided to turn it into suiting separates, because sometimes, work and travel feel like competitive sports.) Pair these pieces with the Mia top and Leo pullover for a tonal, layered outfit. Once you make it to your destination, stash the jacket and pullover in your bag, add some fun earrings, and head to the charming patio bar down the street with a great book in tow.
Saturday Outfit
At the risk of getting a little too deep, this is a time to listen to your heart. If you love an activity-filled day, hop from museum to famous croissant spot to second museum to bookstore to quick photo op in front of something scenic, and then head to dinner. Alternatively, if you love a day without commitments, you can embrace the opportunity to simply stroll around and see where the wind takes you. Wherever you fall on that spectrum, the Mejia pants, Vicky tank, and Scotte jacket will strike the right balance between comfortable, casual, and put-together. Add the Hugo necklace set and KOIO sneakers to complete the look.
Sunday Outfit
Good news: You don’t have to check out of your hotel until 4, so you can sleep late and take the scenic route to and from brunch before heading home. You should wear something cozy for the trip back, but you still want to look chic at brunch, right? The Ingola sweater in braided stripe paired with the sleek Stella leggings checks both boxes. When it’s time to head home, lace up your sneakers, grab your headphones, and escape into a relaxing playlist for a fitting end to a rejuvenating weekend.
