One of my favorite things about living in New York City is getting an early glimpse at all the trends coming down the pike. Whether I’m running to the subway on my way to work or taking a leisurely stroll to my neighborhood bakery, I’m constantly inundated with walking outfit inspiration that always seems to be a little bit ahead of the curve. New Yorkers are not afraid to experiment—and I’m eager to take notes.
My favorite trend that’s already hit the streets this season? Color—and lots of it. I am a self-proclaimed neutrals-enthusiast, but let me tell you: The colors that are “in” this fall prove that “quiet luxury” isn’t the only shortcut to looking chic.

When it comes to deciding what to wear with olive green (or oregano) pants, you’ve got major options. Just the other week, we released a brand-new style called the Abby jean, a wide-leg pant with a white top-stitch, and it’s already led us to dream up countless outfit ideas. One of our favorite ways to wear this pair of olive green pants? Top them with the cream McKenzie sweater. A white top against your darker pants creates a refreshing contrast that looks cozy rather than summery, thanks to the luxuriousness of the cashmere. We also like to pair olive green pant outfits with animal-inspired patterns, like the leopard-print Rowan flats and gold earrings that bring out the warmth of this earth tone. If you want a full suiting look, slip on a matching Better Than Denim jacket, too.
Fiery Red Sweaters
I don’t have stats on this, but it seems that rocking bright, unapologetic shades of red is the #1 color trend this fall. I’ve seen several mentions of “pepper red” and “cherry red,” but we’re calling our signature red of the season “strawberry.” Meet the slightly preppy Eloise vest and the perfectly slouchy Kiki sweater—both of which feature a unique take on cable knit that combines various stitches. You can balance out either one of these swingy styles with a streamlined trouser like the Horton pant, and if you go the vest route, try layering a lightweight turtleneck or a white button-down underneath for added warmth. Tie your look together with the cognac Rowan flats, the gold Lyra necklace, and the pearl Lillie earrings.
Bronzey Knits
Get ready to channel your inner ‘90s-era, off-duty supermodel. Slinky knits in reddish brown shades like sepia, clay, and caramel are all the rage right now, but these gorgeous neutrals have already proven to stand the test of time, and we’re confident they’ll remain staples in your closet for years to come. For a tonal look, pair the mock-neck Montean top with the camel Smith pants and go-to gold hoops. Add light-blue flats for an unexpected color combination that’s inspired by bronzey fall foliage and clear, crisp skies. If you want to amplify the ‘90s vibe, swipe on your favorite brown-leaning lipstick.
A Dash of “Digital Lavender"
A vivid yet calming shade of lavender, dubbed “digital lavender,” made its way into our closets last spring, and in true M.M. fashion, we’re determined to put it to work year round. Our soft iris hue will provide a lovely pop of color under your suits this fall, especially when juxtaposed with medium to dark neutral colors like mink. For a quintessentially Power Casual look, wear the cowl-neck Nora top under the sculptural Gaia jacket, and balance it out with a more relaxed piece like a pair of blue-denim, palazzo-cut jeans. Finish the look with simple silver hoops and multi-toned flats that pair back to your jacket.
Lots of Chocolate
Think of dark brown as black’s artsy sister: Both get along with everyone, but brown is a bit less buttoned-up and slightly more interesting. For a richly hued fall uniform, rely on one of our chocolate jardigans, like the Jolie, plus the brown vegan leather Archie pants. This pairing creates a monochromatic palette that also has a lot of depth due to the differing textures. Keep the rest easy with a pima cotton T-shirt, a classic belt, white sneakers, and silver hoops. If you prefer a perfectly matching set, swap the jardigan for a coordinating vegan leather jacket.
Pops of Leafy Green
