Straight-Leg Jeans Styling: Eight Ways to Wear the Daria Jeans

These jeans will add a certain je ne sais quoi to all of your outfits.

By Emma Steinbergs

In all honesty, the Daria jeans did not strike me as anything special when I first laid eyes on them. To be sure, they were well made—they do feature our signature Better Than Denim fabric, after all. But where was the shape? Why were they worth making? These questions would soon be answered, because the second I slipped them on, I understood: The Daria’s neutral shape is the whole point.

Unlike our equally cool Milo and Archie jeans, the Daria doesn’t have a wide leg or a kick crop. Instead, it’s fitted through the hip and features a subtly relaxed, straight leg. But this lack of drama or flare doesn’t mean it’s devoid of distinct style. Like any pair of straight-leg jeans, the Daria’s understated nonchalance is exactly what makes it so wonderful. These jeans may not look like much on the hanger, but put them on, and you exude je ne sais quoi.

Sure, we didn’t invent straight-leg jeans, but we haven’t encountered any as comfortable and effortless as the Darias. Thanks to Turkish two-way stretch cotton, these jeans offer secret stretch and excellent recovery. Plus, they’re not just easy to wear—they’re also easy to pair. As you’ll see below, they’ll look great with just about anything in your closet with the help of a few styling tips.

Keep scrolling to see eight outfit ideas for how you can start styling your straight-leg denim.

Eight Straight-Leg Jean Outfits

1.

Never Go Wrong in Neutrals

Our new oregano color is an earthy green-brown you can wear with a wide range of warm hues. That said, we love to let this nuanced neutral stand out by pairing it with shades that are even more muted. For example, you’ll find that the Daria jeans in oregano pop alongside a white shirt. Try a streamlined and special style like the Liana top, which features our sleek 365Knit and charming cap sleeves. To create a chic tonal palette from head to toe, go with coordinating caramel accessories like the leather Carter slides and playful Yuna earrings. In the fall and winter, just add a leather jacket.

2.

Play with Proportion

Like skinny jeans, the Daria jeans pair well with a wide range of top silhouettes—but look much cooler. When you want to spice up your go-to T-shirt rotation, try them with the gingham linen Flaka top and matching Dolly jacket. The tented top serves as a playful counterpart to your relaxed pants, and the matching jacket forms a cohesive top half. Complete the look with the black Carter slides (or black ankle boots) and Mildred earrings.

3.

Get into Shape

No, we’re not telling you to work out. We’re encouraging you to experiment with different shapes as you style your Daria jeans. The Joya top boasts a wide square neck and subtly billowy sleeves, which lend a whimsical quality to your more streamlined bottom half. As far as bright color goes, you can make the most of allergy season spring by leaning into green with the jade-like Daniela earrings, and balance out your vibrant top half with minimalist accessories like a black belt and flats.

4.

The Safari-Inspired Suit

Plot twist: The Daria jeans are part of a suit! Pair them with the matching Better Than Denim Emalis jacket to make a full safari-inspired set, and layer an easy tank like the Paige underneath. Tie your two-toned look together with the black-and-olive Rowan flats, and incorporate a bit of shine with some gold hoops.

5.

Slouchy Yet Sophisticated

On those mornings when you just need to toss something on, the Daria jeans pair seamlessly with a similarly relaxed yet refined style like the Liam sweater. Now available in a cool blue-gray, this slightly slouchy, remarkably breathable pullover was a huge hit last spring—so get your hands on it now. Wear this laid-back look at home, or add some extra polish with silver pointed-toe flats and hoop earrings before heading into the office.

6.

Sheer Chicness

Solid-colored and straightforward styles like the Darias allow you to pull off trendier styles in an approachable, office-appropriate way. For instance, if you want to wear the textured, subtly sheer Brodie top, your minimalist jeans will ensure you look sophisticated with just a touch of sexy. (Note: You can add a tank top underneath for extra coverage, but the Brodie is opaque enough that a nude bra will do!)  Leather sneakers and chic hoops are all you need to finish off your on-trend, understated ensemble.

7.

Fancify Your Pants

A blazer and jeans is a quintessentially Power Casual pairing—juxtaposing an elevated piece with a casual essential. Wearing a tweed-like jacket like the Lilia with a relaxed jean like the Daria creates a uniquely cool contrast that’s simultaneously luxurious and laid-back. Bonus: The Lilia’s cropped hemline hits right around Daria’s high-rise waist, so you end up with an especially leggy silhouette. Up your outfit’s fancy factor with the silk Lisy cami, the metallic Rowan flats, and the light-catching Beatriz earrings.

8.

Easy and Breezy

Thanks to their relaxed cut and cotton composition, the Daria jeans are easy and breezy. Play up these qualities by pairing them with other loose-leaning, breathable styles like a crisp poplin shirt. One of our favorites is the Mila button-down, which is our take on an oversized shirt, has a worn-in fit, and embodies that unbothered mindset we all hope to channel this season. Round out your subtly summery outfit with light neutral slingbacks and colorfully embellished earrings.
