Dresses You Can Wear to Work… and a Summer Wedding

July 07, 2017 | Filed in: Your Closet

Customers frequently tell us they want clothing that works double duty: dresses that look sharp in the boardroom but can (comfortably) withstand crawling on the ground with a two-year-old; pants that have enough stretch for long flights but can also handle dribblings of cake batter without being rushed to the dry cleaner, and tops that check all the office-appropriate boxes but still look cool at post-work happy hour. We pride ourselves on offering all of the above, and then some—dresses that you’ll wear with confidence on the day of a big presentation, and then to a rehearsal dinner a few hours later. Read on for our top picks for work-to-wedding dresses.

The Inez dress

When this dress was in development, our design team lovingly referred to it as “the ‘40s dress.” Take a page from their inspiration and add pearls, a red lip, and a heel—the dance floor awaits.

The Marian dress

Reach for the Marian if you have next to zero time for pre-wedding prep: The high neckline and architectural drape mean you don’t have to worry about accessorizing (the knot at the waist is tacked, so you don’t even have to tie it), and our breathable crepe fabric can be rolled up and stuffed in your weekender tote without a second thought. Fancy it up with a statement earrings, a sophisticated updo, and a pretty sandal.

The Femi dress

When we say the Femi is dance-floor-approved, we mean it—we had professional ballerinas take it out for a spin, and the skirt really does look best mid-twirl. Elbow-length sleeves offer additional coverage, while a relaxed silhouette means there’s no need to question that second slice of cake.

The Alex 2.0 dress

With a sculptural twist at the waist and layered panels that flatter the torso, the Alex has always been one of our stylists’ top recommendations for special occasions. (It’s also one of our more petite-friendly styles.) Pair it with elegant earrings and prepare to turn heads.

The Zulma dress

Graceful, flowy, and comfortable to boot, the Zulma is a safe bet if you’re unsure of the precise dress code (it’s also a go-to for rehearsal dinners within the MM office). The long hem and cross-body panel create elongating lines, while the viridian color feels fresh for the season. A toast!
