The Pants That Go With Everything

We believe in building a wardrobe with price-per-wear in mind, and when you find a great-fitting pair of pants in a wear-with-anything color, they prove their worth very quickly. By that measure, the Oshima pant in russet are a sartorial goldmine. The sister pant of our bestselling Foster, the Oshima has a slightly cropped hem (perfect for showing off an elegant summer sandal) and a high waist (muffin tops, begone). If the word “cropped” makes you think of flood pants, know that the subtle flare at the ankle creates a chic proportion (more Audrey Hepburn, less clamdigger).
For summer, think of the Oshima pant as a building block: Their silhouette is streamlined and simple, while the russet color (our answer to traditional khaki) goes with almost every color imaginable. Read on to see how MM merchandising coordinator Becka wears hers.
Look 1: Tailored and Streamlined
Why it works: With angled seams and a slight flare at the hem, the April top is the shirt equivalent of an A-line dress. When paired with the Oshima pant, the silhouette on top mirrors the silhouette on bottom, making for beautifully balanced proportions. The soft and stretchy April offers sweatshirt-level comfort, while the crisp Oshima pant makes the outfit office-appropriate.
Look 2: Blousey and Minimalist
Why it works: This look mixes business casual and comfort, and the combination of true olive and russet feels fresh. With a draped neckline and a clean hem that skims the hips, the Rowling elevates the Oshima pant without feeling overly formal.
Look 3: Relaxed and Flexible
Why it works: The tunic silhouette of the Jackie top contrasts nicely with the fitted Oshima pant, and the additional coverage makes this look as comfortable as it is elegant. Don’t be nervous about pairing a long top with a cropped pant: The differences in length actually complement each other, creating an elongating effect.
