Meet the Stylist: Sara Trautz
July 12, 2017 | Filed in: Humans of MM
MM’s stylist team is our secret sauce: They’re a whip-smart, hardworking, big-hearted bunch with a passion for making our customers feel great (and knowing the exact size to send). On any given day, they can be found concocting the perfect Bento Box, styling new outfits from our latest collection, (wo)manning the floor at a pop-up, or responding to each and every customer email. This week, we present a new series featuring the individuals that make up this unstoppable crew. First up: Sara Trautz.
Name: Sara Trautz (or “Strautz,” as she’s affectionately referred to around the MM office).
Hometown: Edina, Minnesota.
Alma mater and major: Dartmouth College, Art History.
Namesake MM piece: I don’t have one yet, but it’s coming in our fall collection! It will be the Ellis dress, which is my middle name (and my grandma’s first name).
Most-worn MM piece: It’s a tie between the Toi dress and the Rachel dress.
Signature styling trick: Wearing a different belt with the Etsuko dress from the one it comes with. My favorite is pairing a colored belt with the black Etsuko.
Proudest styling moment: Creating a full wardrobe and packing list for a customer’s trip to France for a conference, including daily outfits.
Favorite New York City restaurant and menu pick: The classic burger and a black-and-white shake from Shake Shack.
Favorite way to spend a Saturday: Wandering around the Frick Museum.
Dream pop-up destination (and why): Rome, Italy. You would be greeted with an espresso when you walk into the pop-up and given gelato when you leave. What’s better than that?
Currently reading: Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel.
Currently watching: Narcos on Netflix.
One thing you can’t live without: Cheese, wine, and dinner parties. I make a mean roast chicken that my friends love.
Spirit animal: A penguin.
Go-to desk lunch: The salad from Chop’t that is covered in cheese, corn, and fried onions.
Best part about working at MM: The stylist team!
