Is Statement Jewelry Making a Comeback?
This is the very 2021 jewelry trend you need to know about.
Don’t get me wrong: I love a wisp of gold bracelet on the wrist or a subtle ladder of gold cuffs climbing up the ear. But you know what else I love? Big, bold, statement jewelry. The kind of jewelry that exudes confidence. I’m talking fabulous pieces that make the wearer feel powerful, and all admirers stop for a second glance. So, when I saw the earrings that are part of our spring collection, Mentally, I’m Here, I had to ask—is statement jewelry making a comeback?
It makes sense that we’re moving in this direction. With many of us still working remotely, the way we’re dressing has shifted considerably. We might be wearing sweatpants down below, but up top—and on Zoom—we still need to look presentable. Statement jewelry has a way of jazzing up an outfit, even if that outfit is just your favorite T-shirt.

Mixing Hot and Cold
The wooden Flores earrings were an immediate “add to cart” for me. The hazelnut hue pops against any color—white, black, and yes, even sky blue, as seen here with the Alina T-shirt. It’s an unexpected combo that reminds me of Miami, Tulum, and anywhere that isn’t frigid New England right now.
Trading Hoops for Circles
For the last year, I’ve been living in the gold Claressa hoops, and while I love their subtle charm, I definitely need to mix things up a bit. The Celia earrings are the total opposite, and that’s what makes them perfect. The silver circles are a bit of a Magic Eye-trick, and they’re the star of the show against the elegant Paige T-shirt in soft pink. I plan to wear these on big meeting days, when I need Big Meeting Energy.
Letting the Earrings Speak for Themselves
It’s called statement jewelry for a reason—and sometimes, you have to let the jewelry speak. Wearing a truly neutral top, like the Leslie T-shirt in pebble, with the Briar earrings (seen here in jasper, coming soon) is one way to make sure they get heard. Sure, tiny studs are practical, but these days, what would be the fun in that?
