1 Skirt + 6 Women = 6 Holiday Party Outfits

December 03, 2016 | Filed in: Humans of MM

Our mix-and-match silk separates have been a huge hit, and it’s easy to see why—they look chic and sophisticated on just about everyone. Below, six MM staffers (with six different body types) style their favorite combinations with the Lenox skirt in all three hues.

Emily: Bancroft top + Lenox skirt

Silk Outfits // MM.LaFleur

Emily wears the Bancroft top in scarlet and the Lenox skirt.

Why it fits: I love silhouettes that showcase my shape. The top is great because it doesn’t add volume to my chest, and the sleeves are cut wide enough that I can wear a normal bra and not worry about the straps showing (which is key for me). The Lenox is my dream skirt—it’s both elegant and comfortable, and the wrap style is accommodating through the hips.
Color choice: The scarlet top is so rich and buttery-looking, and I chose the black skirt because I was looking for a versatile piece I could pair with anything in my closet—I could wear it to a gala or to a board meeting and feel on point.
Where I’ll wear it: All the weddings I’m going to in 2017 (so far, I have four on the books).
Go-to cocktail: A gin gimlet made with fresh lime.
—Emily, manager of strategic operations initiatives

Audrey: Bancroft top + Lenox skirt

Silk Outfits // MM.LaFleur

Audrey wears the Bancroft top in royal navy and the Lenox skirt in amaranth.

Why it fits: Because I’m petite with broader shoulders, defining my waist is a must, and the skirt’s draping balances out my proportions.
Color choice: I’m never shy about bright colors, and I think the navy and fuschia look really modern together.
Where I’ll wear it: A New Year’s Eve party!
Go-to cocktail: Caipirinha.
—Audrey, stylist

Narie: Bergman top + Lenox skirt, and Rachel: Bancroft top + Lenox skirt

Silk Outfits // MM.LaFleur

From left: Narie wears the Bergman top and Lenox skirt in dusty teal, and the Venus earrings. Rachel wears the Bancroft top in scarlet, Lenox skirt in amaranth, and Marquise studs.

Why it fits: Because I’m on the busty side, I like shapes that are looser on top, cinched at the waist, and fitted through the hips.
Color choice: The dusty teal is unusual without being loud.
Where I’ll wear it: An upcoming charity gala.
Go-to cocktail: Pisco sour.
—Narie, chief operations officer

Why it fits: I have an hourglass shape, and this pairing shows my figure and drapes in all the right places—it has an old-Hollywood glamour to it, too.
Color choice: The amaranth and scarlet feels like a bold power clash.
Where I’ll wear it: Every holiday party.
Go-to cocktail: Negroni.
—Rachel, director of offline retail

Elecia: Bergman top + Lenox skirt scarf necklace

Silk Outfits // MM.LaFleur

Elecia wears the Bergman top, the Lenox skirt, and the scarf necklace.

Why it fits: I love the simplicity of the top and the wrapped style of the skirt. I’m tall and slightly pear-shaped, so I love high-waisted skirts and pants.
Color choice: There’s nothing better or easier than all black.
Where I’ll wear it: The next special occasion.
Go-to cocktail: A tequila sunrise. I love fruity drinks.
—Elecia, stylist

Lori: Bergman top + Lenox skirt + scattered stone necklace

Silk Outfits // MM.LaFleur

Lori wears the Bergman top, the Lenox skirt, and the scattered stone necklace.

Why it fits: I’m petite, so I usually steer clear of midi-length skirts, but this combination elongates my body.
Color choice: I prefer to wear cool shades, because they stand out in a subtle way.
Where I’ll wear it: A Christmas party and a New Year’s party—as long as I don’t see the same people at both!
Go-to cocktail: Moscow Mule.
—Lori, stylist
