The #1 Piece You Should Buy from the M.M. Sale—and How to Style It

Now’s your chance: Pounce on these $135 pants.

By Emma Steinbergs

Last fall, I professed my love for a clothing item whose power people often underestimate—that is, the leather pant. The TL;DR of this story is as follows: Thanks to designer options that cost an arm and a leg, fast-fashion alternatives that feel like plastic, and trendy cuts worn by the likes of Kim Kardashian, leather pants can be any combination of costly, uncomfortable, and downright intimidating. Our (vegan) leather Archie pants, however, are everything but. They’re neither too heavy nor too tight, and their buttery texture adds a touch of luxury to everyday outfits.

I’m happy to say that I managed to convince a good number of you to try them out last year, and for the rest who remain on the fence, I’m returning with a little update. ~12 months later, these pants not only remain stylistically relevant but have also become a staple in my cool-weather pant rotation. Combined with the fact that they’re just $135 right now, I’d say this makes them the #1 savviest steal from our sale.

Run—don’t walk—to grab your size now, and if you want fresh styling inspo, scroll below.

Sizing guidance: The Archie pant fits true to size. I’m 5’6” and typically wear a 2/XS in M.M.LaFleur and a 26 in most jeans; I own the size 2.

Outfit #1

A cheat code to looking chic? Commit to a monochromatic palette. Here, I did so by tucking a lightweight underpinning into the Archies and adding matching accessories, including a leather belt and menswear-inspired loafers (similar). For bonus texture and visual interest, I topped it off with the milky white Jolie jardigan, which creates a deliciously stark contrast against the chocolaty base of this look.

Outfit #2

I can’t get enough chocolate brown + cream, so here’s another iteration of this color combo. Layered over the ivory Axam turtleneck, the Tyner jacket creates a pseudo suit, while a gold-ring belt (similar), everyday hoops, and vintage Ferragamo mules add flair to this otherwise straightforward outfit.

Outfit #3

If you own leather pants, you might as well embrace their edgy side every now and then. Slipping on a pair of trusty Dr. Martens boots does the trick, while the sophisticated Watson cardigan-top keeps the look more polished than punk.

Outfit #4

Black and brown isn’t the only traditionally no-no color combo you should absolutely say “yes” to. That’s right: If you’re not wearing navy with brown, you’re sorely missing out. Together, these neutrals form a palette that’s uniquely elegant and slightly unexpected. Here, I’ve paired my brown Archie pants with the navy Tatum top and added a crisp white shoe (similar) that lends freshness to the look.

Outfit #5

Consider this look proof that leather pants fit in just as well at cocktail parties as they do at rock concerts. To ensure they read as luxe rather than edgy, all you have to do is soften them up a bit; try pairing them with romantic styles like the silk charmeuse Sohee top and satin mules.

Outfit #6

Have I mentioned how buttery smooth these pants are? Fair warning: It’s kind of an If You Give a Mouse a Cookie situation. Once you feel the Archies for yourself, you’re going to want a pairing piece that’s equally as soft. This winter, try them with the Lea sweater, which, in the words of one customer, has “the softness of 1,000 kittens.” Red flats (similar) are the cherry on top.

Outfit #7

The Archies’ surprising level of stretch is another one of their attributes that cannot be overstated. For a busy day of running errands, chasing children, or brewery hopping, wear them with a piece that’s equally as flexible, like the Rhoda jacket. This Stretch Twill style features stripes of orange, brown, and navy, so I filled in the rest of this look with more muted pairings: an ivory T-shirt and brown loafers (similar).

Outfit #8

Date night? Pair the Archies with the Lucia top for a match made in heaven. The Lucia is crafted from our luxurious Flex Suiting material, which has a 3-hour-dinner-friendly amount of stretch and a substantial handfeel. I love the way its sculptural shape echoes the Archies’ kick-flare silhouette. To round out the look, I added the sharp Lana boots, gold statement earrings, and a glitzy tennis necklace (similar).

Outfit #9

On weekends, I rely on a heavy rotation of T-shirts and sneakers—with pants being the most variable element of my outfits. In the past few years, my casual pant lineup has grown well beyond the bounds of blue jeans, now including everything from tailored trousers to leather pants, and I can tell you that I’ve never had more fun getting dressed. Here, I created a sporty-chic look by pairing my Archie pants with my Adidas Sambas and layered an old blue version of the Leslie T-shirt under the double-breasted Kati blazer. The Archies are truly just as comfortable as sweats but make me feel infinitely more put-together after rolling out of bed on a Saturday morning.

Outfit #10

Wine and chocolate don’t just taste good together, they also look good together. They also form an ideal pairing for those of you who don’t love bright colors but want to branch out a bit from your usual winter rotation of black and gray. While items like the brown Archie pants and the maroon Grenville jacket may feel foreign at first, I assure you they’ll become well-worn favorites in no time.
