When the week is getting the best of me, I tend to turn to blacks and ivories to keep things simple. But when I pop on the Sophie in bright medallion, something magical happens. Suddenly, it’s a crisp Sunday morning at the farmer’s market, and I’ve got my tote bag in hand, ready to purchase some apples. This cashmere sweater is like a secret weapon for the mid-week slump, so I tend to save it for the day I need it most. I like to pair the Sophie sweater with the Tinsley trousers in biscuit, just to avoid black all together.

The other day, I was in a Zoom meeting when I noticed I had pulled the hood of the Colette over my head like a teenager. It seemed like such a funny, youthful thing to do, and it made me feel silly for a minute—like, what 36-year-old woman wears a hoodie to a meeting? And then I realized that M.M.’s designers had chosen to put a hood on our beloved jardigans for this very reason—to have a little more fun, to take ourselves a little less seriously, and to add a little whimsy and mystery to the everyday. I tend to wear the Colette with the Colby joggers for a look that is as close to a business tracksuit as possible.

Baggy clothes are the standard uniform for lazy women, but going a little fitted throws an interesting wrench into the mix. For one, with fitted clothes, like the beautifully knit Eileen top, a bra is usually necessary. And while laziness and bras are enemies, the Eileen makes putting one on worth it (trust me on this). And since I’m going fitted on top, I pop on the wide-legged Anderson pants on the bottom to balance everything out.

Now that my husband is back in the office and my daughter is in daycare, I am alone for large chunks of time. For the last seven months I’ve had a baby on me non-stop, and it’s weird to be so physically free for over eight hours a day. I love the freedom—don’t get me wrong—but also…it’s kind of lonely. And sometimes, I really want a hug. I’m not saying the Snyder can replace the warm embrace of a loved one, but on days when I don’t want to think about getting dressed, and also need a little TLC, putting it on over my favorite Leslie T-shirt definitely raises my serotonin levels just enough.

With my office being at home, TGIF doesn’t have the same oomph that it once did. Still—the symbolic end of the work-week is definitely something to celebrate. But sometimes I need a Friday boost on a Tuesday—you know what I mean? The Para sweatshirt with the Zhou culottes is the outfit for that. It’s a look that’s oversized (but not baggy!), structured, but comfy. It’s something I would lazily throw on before brunch with my friends, if brunch was still a thing.
