WFH Style According to Your Favorite Fictional Working Women

Need a jolt of Leslie Knope’s energy? A lesson in lounging from Olivia Pope? Here’s how to emulate your favorite leading ladies.

If you’re stuck at home, you might find yourself escaping into the fictional worlds of your favorite TV shows. And as it turns out, some of the best shows feature working women as protagonists. (Coincidence? I think not.) Whether you need a jolt of Leslie Knope’s energy or a lesson in lounging from Olivia Pope, we can all learn a thing or two about WFH style from TV’s leading ladies. Here’s how to dress like your favorite fictional characters.

Selina Meyer, Veep

Selina Meyer is always in a perfectly tailored power dress, even when she’s working from home. Granted, her home is sometimes the White House—but either way, her outfits are so sharp, just looking at her can make you feel more productive. (And yes, that is how I’m justifying my midday Veep breaks.) If you need a Selina-Meyer-approved push to get to work, the Tilda dress and sparkly Nikolina earrings will put you right in the zone.

Leslie Knope would hate working from home, but she’d make the most of it by eating waffles for every meal and scheduling twice-daily Zooms with Ann. Channel her positive energy with the Blake shirt in atlas print (which is based on old maps of NYC—but you can pretend it’s Pawnee), topped by her signature gray blazer. The stretchy Foster pant will keep you comfortable as you curl up on your couch with a glass of wine and your best friend on video chat.

Grace Hanson and Frankie Bergstein, Grace and Frankie

Grace and Frankie run their vibrator company from home, but that doesn’t stop them from looking like pros. To emulate Frankie’s charming, creative style, opt for the relaxed-fit Maaza dress and Dougherty coat. If you’re more of a Grace, you’ll want to keep it classic. The Bennett blazer, Bridget top, and Capri earrings will give you sophisticated-CEO energy for your next Zoom meeting—but you’ll be just as comfortable as Frankie, thanks to the stretchy seams in your blazer and the flexible cotton of your Hockley pants.

Olivia Pope, Scandal

If anyone knows how to get cozy at home, it’s Olivia Pope. She favors a wide-leg pant, and the Horton is comfy enough that you can sit cross-legged on your (conveniently popcorn-colored) couch. The Morandi sweater feels like a luxurious robe, but it’s polished enough that you won’t have to do a quick change if someone (say, a fictional, handsome POTUS) shows up at your door in the middle of dinner your second glass of wine.
