The Five Things I’m Buying from M.M.’s Pre-Fall Collection
And why they might belong in your wardrobe, too.
As I’ve written about recently, I’ve been making a concerted effort to stretch my wardrobe in new ways—whether by paying attention to how I wear things or entrusting a fellow style enthusiast to come up with fresh recommendations. At the same time, I’m a firm believer in embracing silhouettes I already know and love, and I try my darndest to eschew purchases that don’t add value to my existing items.
Balancing the new with what’s tried and true has, at times, been tricky—but in recent years, I’ve come to view it as a puzzle I enjoy working out. Recently, our captivating pre-fall collection really put me to the test, but after much deliberation, I finally managed to narrow my cart down to five styles. The strategic selection I ended up with checks all my boxes, thanks to a combination of novel silhouettes and old favorites in new hues.
Below, see which pieces I’ll be pulling the trigger on (as soon as we M.M. employees are allowed to shop the drop; we’re required to give you a head start 😉).

Item #1
The Koa Turtleneck
If you know me, you know I love a turtleneck. I practically live in my Arbus sweaters all winter, and my Axams and Jetts are on regular rotation year-round. Another thing I’m a sucker for? An interesting knit. For whatever reason, I’m more often drawn to pattern when it’s presented as a knit rather than a print—as in the case of our brand-new Koa turtleneck. Featuring a sleek silhouette and a visually interesting, space-dyed yarn, the Koa had me at first sight (and feel). I can’t wait to wear it with a wide-leg jean, a chocolaty leather skirt, or a pleated trouser—which brings me to my next pick…
Item #2
The Bia Pant
Ever since pleated pants came back in style a couple of years ago, they’ve been my go-to base for weekday looks and frequently appear in my off-duty outfits, too. This style of trouser isn’t hard to find, but there are few as well-made as our Bia pants. Bonus: They have a double pleat, which further sets them apart and enhances their gorgeous drape. I already own the Bias in our macaroon hue, but I’ll be doubling up and getting them in date—a rich brown I’ve been not so patiently awaiting ever since I first saw a swatch of it months ago.
Item #3
The Scotte Jacket
I feel like I’ve been searching for the perfect lightweight fall jacket for literal years, and I think the Scotte jacket has finally answered my prayers. It’s not a new style, but this date edition has won me over, as I find it more conducive to day-to-night styling than our previous khaki version. I love that it can lean edgy if you style it with leather pants. I also plan to wear it indoors along with the matching Bia pants for a chic pseudo suit.
Item #4
The Shani Top
I’m not a pink person. I can think of just two pink pieces I’ve owned in recent years: an Orchard skirt in a stunning shade of blush and a T-shirt dress I ended up giving away amidst a closet cleanout this past spring. I have nothing against the color (my resistance to it is not some rejection of its association with girliness); I just don’t gravitate toward pink when it comes to getting dressed. Show me our new taffy color, however, and that’s another story. I don’t know why, but there’s something about its cool undertones that barely qualifies as pink in my mind. It also helps that we paired it up with fairly simple, extremely refined silhouettes like the Shani top and Larissa sweater to ensure it doesn’t look too sweet. Surprisingly, I actually don’t own the Shani yet, so that’s how I’ll be getting my taffy fix.
Item #5
The Milo Jean
As one of our most popular pants, the Milo jeans barely need an introduction, but here’s the TL;DR: Their wide-leg silhouette truly looks incredible on everyone, and the adjustable hems are absolutely game-changing. They’re originally made in our best-selling Better Than Denim material, but for the first time ever, we just released them in a second fabric blend, called Stretch Twill. When our team first felt a sample of this fabric, we had an entire discussion about how to do it justice in on our website, because its bouncy, won’t-stretch-out quality is almost impossible to articulate. This is one you really have to feel for yourself.
