Meet the Stylist: Elecia Allen
July 20, 2017 | Filed in: Humans of MM
MM’s stylist team is our secret sauce: They’re a whip-smart, hardworking, big-hearted bunch with a passion for making our customers feel great (and knowing the exact size to send). On any given day, they can be found concocting the perfect Bento Box, styling new outfits from our latest collection, (wo)manning the floor at a pop-up, or responding to each and every customer email. Next up in our series featuring the individuals that comprise this unstoppable crew: Elecia Allen.
Nickname: Leci.
Hometown: Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Alma mater and major: NYU Stern School of Business, double major in International Business and Marketing.
Namesake MM piece: I don’t have one yet, but the Elecia dress is coming in the fall!
Most-worn MM piece: The Aditi 2.0 dress in modern houndstooth.
Signature styling trick: When in doubt, belt it.
Proudest styling moment: At a pop-up, I worked with a customer that had a true hourglass figure, which made it difficult for her to find dresses that fit both her top and bottom halves. We found five dresses that she absolutely loved, which she didn’t expect to happen. What made the appointment memorable was that she gave me the biggest hug afterward. It was definitely a warm fuzzy moment.
Favorite New York City restaurant and menu pick: The Coffee Shop at Union Square. I always order the same thing: shrimp baiano.
Favorite way to spend a Saturday: Brunch with friends at San Marzano on Second Avenue.
Dream pop-up destination (and why): Anywhere in Greece! I just went on vacation to Athens and Santorini, and I’m obsessed. The weather is perfect, the food is delicious, and the people are incredibly (and genuinely) kind.
Currently reading: I’m between books right now, but my all-time favorite is Brave New World by Aldous Huxley.
Currently watching: Game of Thrones (duh!) and Insecure.
One thing you can’t live without: French fries.
Spirit animal: Grey wolf.
Hidden talent: Making sour cream pound cakes from scratch (it’s my granny’s recipe!)
Go-to desk lunch: A chicken pesto panini.
Best part about working at MM: My team! The stylists are close-knit, and I love being with them both inside and outside the office. They’re my co-workers, my friends, and my support system. I feel incredibly lucky to have them.
