Ask a Stylist: What to Pack for a 5-day Business Trip to San Francisco

April 22, 2017 | Filed in: Ask a Stylist

Building your work wardrobe (or hey, even your work uniform) is a feat worth celebrating. Putting together the perfectly-packed carry-on for a business trip? That’s a whole different art. For the final installment of our packing list series, we’ve consulted our stylist team on what to bring for a five-day trip to San Francisco. These pieces are not only travel-friendly, but they’ll look just as sharp in the boardroom as they do strolling through the Golden Gate Park. Read on for our top recommendations for the bay area.

Packing List

Garments:

Accessories:

Day 1: Foster pant + Didion 3.0 top + Graham kimono + Phoebe earrings

Why it works: The Foster pants are a traveler’s dream—they’re tailored and polished enough for the office, but they have a level of stretch and comfort normally reserved for yoga tights. Pair them with the Didion 3.0 top for a balanced silhouette, and add the Phoebe earrings for an understated finish.

Perfect for: Transitioning from the airport to the boardroom. Jet lag? What jet lag?

Transition to evening: The Graham is just the ticket when you’re navigating fluctuating temperatures. Fasten the ties in a loose knot, or let them hang down at your sides for a relaxed look.

Day2--Greenpoint+Lagarde+Belt

Day 2: Greenpoint skirt + Lagarde 2.0 shirt + Crossover belt

Why it works: A crisp button-up and streamlined pencil skirt make for a classic combination, and the Crossover belt lends this ensemble a cool, casual vibe (you’re on the west coast, after all). Tuck the Lagarde 2.0 shirt into the Greenpoint skirt, and fasten the Crossover belt where the hemlines meet.

Perfect for: A day of back-to-back meetings before happy hour in the Mission.

Day3--Casey+-Belt

Day 3: Casey dress + Crossover belt

Why it works: Soft, stretchy, and wrinkle-resistant, throw on the Casey dress when you forget to adjust your alarm clock to PST and need to be out the door, STAT.

Perfect for: A commute-heavy day where you’ll spend quality time in Ubers, trolleys, or trekking around San Francisco’s infamous hills.

Transition to evening: Fasten the Crossover belt at your natural waist, and voila: It looks like you’re wearing separates.

Day4--Foster+-Lagarde+Phoebe

Day 4: Foster pant + Lagarde 2.0 shirt + Phoebe earrings

Why it works: The sleek, tailored Lagarde 2.0 shirt pairs beautifully with the slim-fitting Foster pants. This combination is sufficiently sharp for formal boardrooms, but can also hold its own among the more casual Silicon Valley crowd.

Perfect for: A day when you’ve set aside time to hang out in Dolores Park, followed by an impromptu trip to Bi-Rite Creamery. We highly recommend a scoop of honey lavender with Sonoma honey, but you do you.

Day5--Greenpoint+Didion+Garham

Day 5: Greenpoint skirt + Didion 3.0 top + Graham kimono

Why it works: Stick to comfortable, no-nonsense staples for the last day of your trip. The stretchy ponte fabric of our Greenpoint skirt and the breezy fit of the Didion 3.0 top are ideal for checking off last-minute to-dos. Add the Graham kimono for additional warmth—and carry it with you for the flight home.

Perfect for: Transitioning from your final presentation to curling up in your plane seat.
