My All-time Best Buys: Anh of 9 to 5 Chic

While there are about five trillion style blogs on the internet, there are very few that truly cater to the needs of professional women. That’s why we’re such huge fans of Anh Sundstrom, whose blog 9 to 5 Chic provides a mix of elegant workwear (that you can actually wear to the office) and off-duty styles. Her look is always effortless and grown-up—a killer combo, if you ask us.

For our book Wear to Work, we asked Anh about her all-time 9 to 5 chic workwear staples—her wardrobe “workhorses,” if you will. Here’s what she said.

Anh in our favorite black wrap dress.

1. A black blazer.

“Nothing ties it all together like a black blazer. It’s also the perfect piece to take your outfit from casual to business-casual. And it doesn’t hurt to leave one at the office for those meetings that pop up out of nowhere.”

2. A navy sheath dress.

“Navy is a classic color, which makes it a perfect match for the classic sheath. I can dress it up or down, layer over or under, or wear as is. A sheath dress should fit perfectly—not too tight and not too loose—and it should hit right above the knee.”

3. Black pumps.

“I’m a fan of single-sole, pointed-toe pumps, and I wear them constantly! The key is to find a heel height that works for you. I have 4-inch heels for my power days, and 3-inch heels for days when I’ll be doing more walking.”
