The Machine-Washable Blazer That’s Revolutionizing My Winter Wardrobe
Featuring four of my favorite layered looks to try this season.
After years of waxing poetic about my collection of double-breasted blazers, I’ve decided it’s high time I show some love to a single-breasted style that’s admittedly less fashion-forward but arguably even more adaptable to my cold-weather wardrobe. There’s a good chance you’ve already identified this mystery layer from the image above—it is our #1 best-selling blazer after all. But for those of you who remain unfamiliar, allow me to introduce you to the Moreland.
Originally designed with travel in mind, the Moreland jacket is crafted from our OrigamiTech material and is unlike any other suiting in your closet. Seriously, give it one touch, and you’ll realize this seemingly straightforward style is an instant game-changer. Wrinkle-resistance and machine-washability are among its most impressive feats, but my personal favorite feature is its deliciously and deceptively light weight. It’s structured without being bulky, which makes it more layerable—and therefore more winter-friendly—than any other blazer I own.
To be sure, my well-worn Kati and my beloved O’Haras are decidedly warmer and roomier. But the Moreland’s airy fabric increases the chances I’ll keep it on all day, and its light weight allows me to wear it with everything from toasty sweaters to tailored coats. In other words, it’s an integral part of my year-round outfits—and expands the limits of my winter wardrobe.
The weather just turned here in NYC (we’re talking highs in the 30s all of a sudden), and to cope, I spent a good chunk of the past week indoors, coming up with countless cozy combinations. Below, see four ways I plan to wear my Moreland jacket this chilly season.

For the Office
One of the biggest myths surrounding winter dressing is that pants are the only sensible option. Not so! As long as you invest in a few pairs of high-quality tights—I recommend these—you’ll feel snug and sophisticated in both skirts and dresses. Here, I wore my Moreland jacket over the matching Maaza dress to create a sleek suiting look. On extra-frigid days, try swapping the Maaza with the Lancia dress, which has the same fit plus ¾-length sleeves. You may be worried about the annoying bunching that happens when you layer mismatched sleeve lengths (my skin crawls just thinking about it), but I assure you that OrigamiTech’s smooth handfeel and the Moreland’s relaxed sleeves prevent any of that. To give this monochrome outfit more variety of texture, I added a pair of shiny patent loafers.

For Date Night
Meeting a friend for $18 Negronis? No need to sacrifice comfort to achieve a slinky, woman-about-town vibe. Just layer the fitted Axam turtleneck under a silk slip dress, and top it off with your Moreland jacket. Here, I’ve gone with the Nene dress, which is machine-washable and boasts our moody faded print. It’s practically a work of art, so to ensure it got all the attention it deserves, I kept the rest of my outfit streamlined and solidly black.
Look #3
For the Weekend
When I want to winter-ify my weekend uniform of a T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers, I’ll slip on my Moreland jacket (plus some wool socks and my puffy parka) and call it a day. In this particular instance, I reached for an oversized men’s tee and went with a pair of well-worn blue jeans as my base. Against these ultra-casual styles, the Moreland accomplishes several things: Its tailored silhouette lends shape and sharpness; the OrigamiTech fabric brings polish to the look while retaining its sporty vibe; and the black pulls the palette together by coordinating back to the black stripe in my tee.

For a Special Event
Earlier this year, Maddie styled the Moreland for hot summer days (I told you this jacket is a year-round wonder!), and I was inspired to try her blazer-under-a-blazer look—this time with a wintry twist. I couldn’t wait to try out this new suit—because what better time of year is there to rock head-to-toe white than during the holiday season? It’s bright as snow, and the adage “don’t wear white after Labor Day” makes it that much more of a chic statement at your office party. I love how the Moreland jacket fades into the background of the Kati jacket and Tinsley trousers here, creating the effect of a three-piece-suit. To take this look from cool and menswear-inspired to elevated and party-ready, I accessorized with my heeled Lana boots, a bold red lip, and some sparkly earrings.
