Would You Like a Cocktail With That Dress?
May 31, 2016
In the kick-up-your-heels spirit of our 5 O’Clock Somewhere collection, we asked Pamela Wiznitzer, mixologist extraordinaire and creative director of New York’s Seamstress bar, to pour us a cocktail (or four). Pam took inspiration from our snappiest new dresses to gin up the following recipes, which taste just as wonderful as they look. Cheers!
This Audrey Hepburn-inspired number pairs perfectly with a modern, whiskey-based drink, served in chic glassware (a classic with a literal twist).
Ingredients for the Margaret:
1.5 oz rye
.5 oz Applejack brandy
.5 oz Cynar 70
.5 oz Bénédictine
3 dashes Angostura Bitters
Directions: Stir and serve in a glass. Garnish with a lemon peel.
This dress calls for bubbles—or, more specifically, a lovely champagne cocktail garnished with a fresh peach.
Ingredients for the Monique:
1.5 oz Ruffino Prosecco
1 oz gin
.75 oz Aperol
.5 oz lemon juice
.5 oz peach nectar
.25 oz honey syrup
Directions: Shake all ingredients except the prosecco and pour into a flute. Top with prosecco and garnish with a thin peach slice.
An elegant highball with crushed ice and strawberry puree. Perhaps add a straw—so you don’t spill on your white dress.
Ingredients for the Silvia:
1.5 oz tequila
.75 oz strawberry puree
.75 oz fresh lime juice
.5 oz simple syrup
.5 oz Campari
Directions: Lightly shake ingredients and strain into a highball glass with crushed ice. Garnish with strawberry, lime, and a straw.
The drinkable version of this airy, easy dress: a cocktail with egg whites, bright citrus, and a velvety texture. Twirling optional.
Ingredients for the Hanna:
1.75 oz vodka
.5 oz Cointreau
1 bar spoon apricot jam
.75 oz lemon juice
1 egg white
3 dashes Bittermans Boston Bittahs
Directions: Shake ingredients without ice. Add ice and shake again. Fine strain into a coupe, and garnish with apricots and drops of bitters.
