Between Emily in Paris and now Bridgerton, I feel like I’ve spent a good portion of the last year enmeshed in fantasies of socializing, romance, and really fun clothes. But it’s getting to the point where I’m sick of just fantasizing. I want all this magic for real—especially when it comes to Bridgerton. After all, I haven’t worn a dress since last February, and I’m longing for a reason to get dolled up.
But here’s the thing about great dresses: Sometimes the dress is the occasion. Just look at Bridgerton’s ladies and debutantes. Sure, they have balls and teas to attend, but they also just sit around gossiping in full head-to-toe looks. So why can’t we do the same?
Here are three Bridgerton-inspired looks I plan on sashaying and flopping around in just for fun.

For When I Want to Meddle (and Look Glam Doing It)
Lady Danbury knows a good thing when she sees it and wouldn’t settle for any old dress. I think she’d love the machine-washable, wrinkle-resistant Emily dress in claret and bold jewelry to match. While wearing this powerful ensemble, I’ll take a page from her book and spend the afternoon texting my single friends to see if they’ve gone on any good dates lately. No dates? No problem. I know a great guy I can set them up with.
For a Kind of Sexy Promenade in the Park
As Bridgerton fans know, one of the steamiest scenes between Simon and Daphne takes place as they’re on a bucolic stroll. Luckily for us, a walk in the park is one of the only Covid-friendly out-of-the-house date options right now, and while it might be too cold to wear a dress outside in January, I plan on going all in this spring. I’ll be channeling Daphne’s enchanted look with the Maite dress in Atlas print, a pair of sparkly earrings, and the extremely walking-friendly Irene slingbacks to pull the whole thing together.
For Just Lounging in the Parlor Reading Gossip
I’m sure I’m not the only one who sees herself in Eloise, the fiery Bridgerton sister who calls bullshit on almost every convention she sees and never had a spot of tea she didn’t want to spill. She also dresses a bit quirkier than the others—a little more practical, but no less fun. I bet she’d be a big fan of the flowy Fatima dress with the Plisse scarf wrapped around her shoulders just so, and the ever-important, swingset-ready Koio sneakers to match. All together, it’s the perfect look for stalking exes on Instagram…not that I’ve ever done such a thing.
