On Body Types and Self-Presentation: BAMM in Conversation
October 19, 2018 | Filed in: Humans of MM
The MM team members who created BAMM (which stands for “Black at MM”) wanted to create a forum to “build connections and discuss topics that were relevant to our community,” says founding member Pauline. One of those oft-discussed topics is self-presentation, especially as it relates to black women dressing for work. Recently, members Nyjerah, Audrey, Chell, Lasanna and Selena (seated from left to right) gathered to have a candid conversation about self-image—and how being black professional women has influenced theirs. Below, they share their thoughts on body type, how their perspectives on dressing have evolved, and how they bring that awareness and insight to the work they do at MM.LaFleur.
