The Woman Behind the Dress: Meet Annie
August 05, 2016
Here at MM.LaFleur, we name our dresses after the brilliant employees who make this company great. One of them is Annie Thorp, our Chief Marketing Officer and a woman of boundless energy and ebullience. Like its namesake, the Annie dress is one of MM.LaFleur’s most valuable players—dependable, versatile, and consistently popular. But of course, no one speaks for it better than Annie herself:
What do you like about the Annie dress?
It just feels like a dress that everyone should own, because it can do so much and be so many different things. Dress it up with jewelry and heels; dress it down with sandals and a wide-brimmed hat; make it corporate with a blazer, or make it warm with a turtleneck or collared shirt layered underneath.
Where have you worn it?
I’ve mostly worn it to work. Which means that it’s survived and thrived under the following conditions: small children applying chapstick and kissing it, small children rubbing their breakfasts on it, power striding through the streets of New York, the sweat of the 6 train, my clumsy pre-work coffee spills, days of running around/being a boss/being an employee, and exhausted nights on the couch watching Game of Thrones. It was good-looking and comfortable in all of those situations, which is more than I can say for myself.
If you could put one celebrity in this dress, who would it be?
Rashida Jones. It’s a dress for good girls who like to dance and be a little silly, and she strikes me as being like that.
