In our 7 Questions series, we ask successful women rapid-fire questions that give us a glimpse into their hearts, minds, and wardrobes. This week, we spoke with Lacie RZ Porta, the founder of Framed Florals and a featured artist in our Woman with an Idea campaign.

Like many great startups (including M.M.LaFleur), Lacie’s business arose because she noticed something missing from the market. After her wedding in 2015, she was unable to find an artist who could preserve her flowers in the minimalist aesthetic she loved, and in a way that was practical for her Brooklyn apartment. So she took matters into her own hands by teaching herself the art of flower-framing—and she loved it so much, she turned it into her business. Fast forward to 2023, and Lacie has pressed thousands of flowers, which have been featured in numerous publications, from Vogue to Sotheby’s Home.

We asked Lacie to send us a photo of the place where she does her best thinking. This photo was taken in her studio in Brooklyn, and she’s wearing the Lagarde shirt and Milo jeans.

1.

What’s the last text you sent?

“Where should we get pizza from tonight?” to my husband. There’s no shortage of amazing pizza places in Brooklyn, so it’s always a discussion.

2.

What’s your favorite thing to wear out to dinner?

Definitely a cozy sweater! I like to keep it casual—and the softer, the better. The Arbus sweater is perfect.

3.

What’s the best book you read last year?

I read 67 books in 2022, and my favorites were all thrillers. Small-town, murder-y, gossipy suburban-mom dramas are my favorite. My Summer Darlings by May Cobb had it all.

4.

What’s the most underrated thing you’ve spent money on?

My daily planner. There’s something so satisfying about physically crossing things off my to-do list.

5.

What’s the worst career advice you’ve ever received?

The worst advice was to keep my business business and my personal life personal. There’s nothing I love more than sharing the ups and downs of my life with the community of online friends I’ve built throughout the years.

6.

What’s one topic you can talk about for 10 minutes straight?

Reality TV. From Jersey Shore to 90-Day Fiancé—I love it all.

The M.M.LaFleur icon, representing a woman with an idea.

Complete the sentence: When women succeed…

…they honor the women who paved the way before them and create new paths for the women who come after them.
